Donations to Paul O'Grady's beloved animal centre look set to hit £100,000 this weekend. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has been "overwhelmed and touched" by the reaction of the public after the TV star's death. Chief Executive Peter Laurie said the charity – which featured in the comic's TV show Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs – had received countless letters, calls, emails and messages of support. A "tribute fund" in memory of the star, who passed away on Tuesday aged 67, had last night racked up £90,000 and could smash through the £100,000 barrier this weekend. All the money donated will go towards the running of the much-loved charity, which has featured in 10 series of the hit ITV show. The eleventh and final series will air posthumously later this month.
