Every Day is Dog Day at Our House But Today is the National One - q1065.fm

Apparently, today is National Dog Day, but at our house, that's every day of the week.

My husband, Jim, and I have had several dogs over the years and each one has been special. But, for me, there's something extra-special about our Pitbull/Labrador mix named Toby. He's 2 years old and is everyone's best friend. Toby has never met a human, or a dog, that he doesn't love. Okay, that's not true. There's one guy that stands at an intersection with a sign that he growls at (we don't know why) but, other than that, he's a lover, not a fighter.

Life is never dull around Toby because he's always up to something. Like the day I brought home a new storage ottoman for the house. We took the cover off it and Toby decided to try it out as a clubhouse. Unfortunately, he's grown way too big for such a small space.

Toby loves his friends, including our next-door neighbor's black lab, named Gunner. These two have so much fun together that Gunner will jump his front paws up on our door and look through the window. "Can Toby come out and play?" Whenever we go to my mother-in-law's house, Toby knows he's going to visit his 'girls,' Mia and Lily. He'll sit outside her door, anxiously awaiting someone to open it up so he can go play.

He's a bit of a ham, who really doesn't mind having his picture taken. But when he's had enough...he's DONE!

Toby loves to ride in the car, especially when we take him to Dunkin' where he gets treated to munchkins.

But his favorite place is at home, laying on the step, smelling the flowers, and watching the bees buzz around. Sometimes we think we should have named in Ferdinand.

Toby's our sweet boy and we hope he sticks around for a long time. Do you have a dog to celebrate today? If so, we'd love to see the pictures. Post them on our Facebook page (under the link to this article) or send them through the Q-106.5 app.
