My Dog Stinks — This 2-in-1 Air Filter And Aromatherapy Diffuser Eliminates His Funky Scent, And It's $30 (that's 50% Off)

You can sweep, vacuum and mop over and over again, but a dog's scent is their mark on the world, and it's going to linger wherever they live. The way I see it, you can either lean into that "rugged," pungent, earthy dog scent, or you can fight it every step of the way. I reside firmly in the latter camp.

The best weapon I've found so far in my battle against doggie B.O.? A table-top HEPA air purifier from Aroeve that also happens to be an essential oil diffuser. My pooch, an over-achiever in the "smelling terrible even post-bath" department, has met his match.

In the battle against stale dog odor, victory is mine. This HEPA air purifier cleans the air while its internal aromatherapy diffuser freshens it.

$30 at Amazon Why is it a good deal? 💰

First of all, it's a two-in-one thing. You could buy an air purifier to filter dog hair and dander — and that would certainly help — but tacking on any sort of fragrance enhancer is going to run you at least a few bucks more. (If you want an essential oil diffuser in the mix, plan to spend at least $15.) Second, it's on sale for 50% off, and we've never seen the price drop lower. If there was ever a time to add to your home's anti-stink and anti-allergen arsenal, it's now.

Why do I need this? 🤔

Yes, I'm focusing on my stinky dog, but there are numerous reasons why you should get a good air purifier. The truth is, the air inside our homes harbors a lot of gross stuff we need to address.

Indoor air can hold levels of certain pollutants that are up to five times higher than outdoors. A good air purifier can help neutralize some of those pollutants and the risks they pose to your health. It can filter dust and help clean the air of germs and viruses, mold, smoke and more. This little number not only cleans and purifies the air, but it also has an aroma pad that holds four to five drops of your favorite essential oils to circulate fresh fragrances throughout the room. If you're dealing with a smoky home, a room that smells like your sick housemate or — yes — a farting Fido, this filter will clean the air of nano-nasties and release lovely scents of your choosing.

There are loads of air filters to choose from, but this Amazon favorite is small enough to fit on your desktop or nightstand to purify the air right where you work or sleep — gently blowing cool, clean air right at ya. Plus, it's quiet — it even has a sleep mode, which produces a soothing, ambient white noise while it works hard to filter the air. An air filter, essential oil diffuser and white noise machine all in one? Now that's just dreamy.

Unassuming air purifier — or pet-odor kryptonite?

What reviewers say 💬

I feel pretty proud to be in the company of over 5,500 five-star fans who own an air filter with a 4.5-star Amazon rating.

Pros 👍

"Listen, if you're a dog parent and you need something to help lighten the smell or air in your home, definitely get this," said one refreshed reviewer. "I wasn't expecting much … but I'm honestly shocked. I have two dogs, a Great Pyrenees and a chihuahua. … My room has never felt so fresh and airy. … It's really lightweight and easy to use. You can even add essential oils which is definitely a plus. I will be buying more of these for other areas in my home."

Another customer called it a "miracle worker," saying: "My dog got sick. … I used a carpet cleaner and while it helped clean the mess up, the smell left over was simply awful. I tried carpet powders, odor sprays, etc. Nothing seemed to work. After my friend suggested trying an air purifier, I found this one and decided to go for it. It was delivered this morning and I had it running while I went to work. I got home and oh. My. God. The smell is almost completely gone! I couldn't be happier!"

Cat owners are happy with this device too: "For the price, this is well worth it for a smaller room!" said one feline parent. "I put it in my cat's room and it really took down the smell from the litter box! No matter how clean the box is, there is always a smell, this thing helps a lot!"

Cons 👎

While many shoppers were happy with the performance of this little device, some wished it worked in larger spaces, while others were disappointed at how often they needed to replace the filters.

"Works well but needing to replace filters faster than I'd like," said one such shopper. "I run it 24 hours a day in the dogs' kennel room, and it for sure made a difference initially, but it is already wearing off quickly."

"Giving it four stars because I think this is too small for my bedroom," said another reviewer. "May work better in a small home office [or a] laundry room."

Lavender oil has a clean, calming scent, and this highly rated aromatherapy blend is praised for a subtle fragrance that smells like a "field of lavender."

"The fragrance is heavenly, not too strong, not too subtle, just perfect," wrote one reviewer. "I pop a few drops in my diffuser, and the entire room smells amazing. It's like a spa day without leaving home!"

Frenchie Is The Picture Of Happiness After Mom Pulls Out The Ice Pack To Cool Him Down

Summer is coming, are you and your dog ready? While summer is a high point for dogs (more time for walks outside!), the heat can be challenging for some breeds. Like one Frenchie, who got a little overheated during a warm day and was hilariously loving it when his mom cooled him off.

This definitely wasn't the first time this happened, judging by the expert way the dog mama took control of the situation .

Right away she grabbed an ice packed and laid it on her French Bulldog, Blue's, chest.

"We're at grammie's and he got just a little too excited. He's overheated," she explained in the clip. Blue's eyes were red, the tips of his ears were "pipping hot," and he was panting — a lot. He definitely had been having a little too much fun.

"It's okay buddy," his mama told him as she pressed the pack to him. Don't worry too much though. It really seemed like Blue was absolutely loving all the attention.

"Frenchies can over heat from the smallest of activities really fast, he's okay!!!" the dog mom added in the caption.

How to Recognize Heat Distress in Dogs

Frenchie are prone to getting overheated. So it's good to know the signs of when it's happening so you can catch it early. Heavy, rapid, or excessive panting is the first tip off. A rapid heart rate, drooling, vomiting or diarrhea, loss of coordination, lethargy, mental dullness, discolored tongue or gums, seizures, and collapsing or falling are all signs too.

Other Ways to Cool Frenchies Down

Thankfully it seems like the woman had it covered. But people in the comments section chimed in with even more ways to cool a warm dog down. "Rubbing alcohol on his paws with cool him down! I work at a vet and that's what we do for dogs with fevers or the start of heatstroke," advised one commenter. "Also applying a cool compress under the arms helps too," someone else added. "Try a cooling mat, they make them for dogs. I have one for my dog and he loves it," one person advised. "We got our Frenchie a cooling collar, works like a charm!" added one person.

Just bringing your dog to an air conditioned room can do wonders, but if they're collapsing or losing consciousness you should take them to the emergency room — stat. These could be signs that something is seriously wrong and they need medical attention.

Do You Have A Dog? Here's How To Keep Them Cool In The Summer And Beat The Heat!

Summer brings not just discomfort for us but also poses various challenges for our beloved pets. It's crucial to ensure their well-being during this season by paying attention to even the smallest details, as our negligence can lead to harm for them. If you have a dog or any other pet at home, here are some essential tips to care for them during the summer months.

Feeding Cool Foods:During the summer, it's essential to pay attention to your pet's diet to help them stay cool and hydrated. Opt for foods that have a cooling effect on their body. Cucumber, watermelon, and other fruits with high water content are excellent options. Additionally, consider adding ice cubes to their water bowl to provide them with refreshing hydration throughout the day. However, it's crucial to consult with a veterinarian to ensure that the diet is balanced and suitable for your pet's specific needs.

Take Them for Walks:When taking your dog for walks during the summer, it's crucial to be mindful of the temperature outside. Avoid walking them during the hottest parts of the day, typically between 10 a.M. And 4 p.M., when the pavement can be scorching hot and increase the risk of paw pad injuries and heatstroke. Instead, opt for early morning or late evening walks when the temperature is cooler. Additionally, always carry water for both you and your pet to stay hydrated during the walk, and consider walking them on grassy surfaces to prevent their paws from burning.

Maintain Cleanliness:Keeping your pet clean is essential year-round, but it's especially crucial during the summer months when heat and humidity can exacerbate skin issues and attract pests. Bathe your pet regularly using a mild pet shampoo to remove dirt, sweat, and allergens from their coat. Pay special attention to areas prone to moisture, such as their paw pads and skin folds, to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. Additionally, wash your pet's bedding, toys, and other accessories frequently to eliminate odors and reduce the risk of flea and tick infestations. Keep Them Hydrated:Proper hydration is vital for your pet's overall health and well-being, particularly during hot weather. Make sure to provide them with access to fresh, clean water at all times, both indoors and outdoors. Consider placing multiple water bowls throughout your home and refill them regularly to encourage your pet to drink more water. You can also offer them water-rich fruits and vegetables as treats, such as frozen watermelon cubes or cucumber slices, to help them stay hydrated and cool. Take Care of Their Skin:The summer heat can take a toll on your pet's skin, leading to dryness, irritation, and even sunburn. To protect their skin, limit their exposure to direct sunlight, especially during the peak hours of 10 a.M. To 4 p.M. If your pet spends time outdoors, apply pet-safe sunscreen to their exposed areas, such as their nose, ears, and belly, to prevent sunburn. Additionally, regularly inspect your pet's skin for signs of irritation, hot spots, or insect bites, and consult with your veterinarian if you notice any abnormalities. By following these detailed tips, you can ensure that your pet stays safe, healthy, and comfortable during the summer months. Remember to prioritize their well-being by providing them with proper nutrition, hydration, and protection from the heat and sun. With a little extra care and attention, you can help your furry friend enjoy the summer season to the fullest.
